Will my MD formatting survive the conversion to RTF?

Body text, headings, lists, tables, and inline images map cleanly from MD to RTF. Heavily-designed page layouts (multi-column spreads, text boxes, absolute-positioned graphics) may reflow because RTF models the page differently than MD — review complex layouts after conversion. MD is Markdown, John Gruber’s 2004 plain-text syntax for writing structured documents that stay readable as source.
Is the RTF text selectable and searchable?

Yes — MD to RTF is a text-level conversion, so every word in the RTF stays real, selectable, searchable text. This is different from rendering a document to images: nothing is rasterized unless the MD itself embedded a picture.
Can I edit the RTF file after converting from MD?

That is the point of this conversion — the RTF is a working document you can reopen and edit in its native app (Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice, PowerPoint, etc.). Change text, restyle, add pages, then re-export however you like.
Can I convert many MD files to RTF in one batch?

Several files in one job need a paid plan. Free use is one file per conversion, one conversion an hour. On a paid plan you can add several files to one job, then download each result on its own or all of them in one ZIP.
How accurate is the MD to RTF conversion?

Text fidelity is near-perfect; layout fidelity depends on how far MD and RTF differ structurally. A PDF-to-Word style change reconstructs an editable layout from a fixed one and is the hardest case; office-to-office and text-to-markup changes are nearly exact.
Is my MD document private during conversion?

Yes. Uploaded MD files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted RTF are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.
How long does converting MD to RTF take?

It depends on the size and length of the file. Small documents and images are usually ready quickly. Long videos take the longest, because most video conversions re-encode every frame.
Do I need Microsoft Office or any app installed to convert MD to RTF?

No — the conversion runs entirely on our servers. You only need the matching app if you want to edit the resulting RTF afterward; the conversion itself needs nothing installed.
