3GP to TIFF Optimization FAQ
How do I extract frames from a 3GP video as TIFF images?
+
Upload the 3GP and open the options. Frame Extraction has two modes: Single Frame saves one TIFF from the second you enter (for example 1, 5 or 10.5), and All Frames saves every frame of the video as a TIFF image. There is no every-Nth-frame or one-per-second mode.
At what resolution does the extracted TIFF image come out?
+
Same pixel dimensions as the source 3GP — a 1080p video produces 1920x1080 TIFF frames, a 4K source produces 3840x2160 TIFF frames. Resize after extraction if you need smaller thumbnails (we have a /image-resize/ tool for that).
Can I extract every frame from a 3GP file as TIFF?
+
Yes, with All Frames in the Frame Extraction option, but watch the count: one minute of 30 fps video gives 1,800 TIFF images. For a single still, choose Single Frame and enter the second you want instead.
Will the TIFF images preserve 3GP HDR color?
+
HDR footage is not tone-mapped: each frame is converted from the 3GP as it is decoded, so a frame from an HDR 3GP can look flat or washed out as a TIFF. Standard (SDR) video keeps its colours.
How long does frame extraction from 3GP to TIFF take?
+
It depends on the size and length of the file. Small documents and images are usually ready quickly. Long videos take the longest, because most video conversions re-encode every frame.
Can I extract frames at specific timestamps in the 3GP?
+
One at a time. Single Frame takes one time in seconds (for example 83 for 1:23) and saves that frame as a TIFF. There is no field for a list of times, so run the conversion again for each extra timestamp.
Is my 3GP video private during TIFF extraction?
+
Yes. Uploaded 3GP files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted TIFF are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.
Why are my extracted TIFF frames blurry?
+
Almost always motion blur from the source 3GP — the camera was moving when the frame was captured. Try picking timestamps from static scenes, or extract several adjacent frames and choose the sharpest. The pipeline does not synthesize sharpness.
Does this tool support one-frame-per-scene-change extraction?
+
No. The converter has no scene detection and no one-per-second mode: it saves either a single frame at the second you enter or every frame. For one image per scene, extract single frames at the times where the scenes change.
Can I use the extracted TIFF frames commercially?
+
Yes, subject to whatever licence governs the source 3GP content. The format change adds no claim — we apply no watermark, embed no tracking, and claim no licence on the TIFF output.
