DOCX to BMP Optimization FAQ
How do I convert a DOCX document into BMP images?
+
Upload the DOCX file and the converter renders each page as a separate BMP image at 150 DPI. A multi-page DOCX produces one BMP per page, numbered in page order. DOCX is Office Open XML, the format Word has produced by default since 2007 and an ISO standard since 2008.
At what resolution / DPI does the BMP render?
+
Pages are rendered at 150 DPI, which is crisp on screen and fine for most printing. There is no DPI setting for DOCX to BMP. For 72 or 300 DPI, convert the DOCX to PDF first, then use the PDF to BMP converter, which has a Resolution setting.
Why render a DOCX to BMP images instead of keeping it a document?
+
Images are universally viewable, cannot be re-edited, and embed anywhere — slide decks, web pages, chat, image galleries. Turning a DOCX into BMP images is ideal for previews, thumbnails, social sharing, or locking the content against edits.
Can I render just specific pages of the DOCX to BMP?
+
No. There is no page setting for DOCX files, so every page is rendered as its own BMP and you keep the ones you need. If you only want the first page, convert the DOCX to PDF and then use the PDF to BMP converter, whose Pages menu offers First page only.
Is the text in the BMP still selectable?
+
No — rendering a DOCX to BMP turns text into pixels, so the result is a picture, not searchable text. If you need editable or searchable output, convert the DOCX to a document or PDF instead of an image.
How long does DOCX to BMP take for a long document?
+
It depends on the size and length of the file. Small documents and images are usually ready quickly. Long videos take the longest, because most video conversions re-encode every frame.
Is my DOCX document private during conversion?
+
Yes. Uploaded DOCX files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted BMP are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.
Will charts and images inside the DOCX render correctly in the BMP?
+
Yes. Embedded charts, photos and inline graphics in the DOCX are drawn into the BMP at the same 150 DPI as everything else on the page.
